Word of the week: Spring Break. It's self-explanatory.
Here I am, at home once again. I was preparing myself for a mild, somewhat dull spring break with many friends gone on trips and little planned with my family. Oh no no no. This is not the way things must go. So far, many a thing has happened while I've been home.
Well, I'll back up a little bit.
First off, they had scones in the Great Hall this week. I am a fan. Very little sleep also occurred this week. So did two hard tests, both of which were made 10x harder because of the previous sentence. Lisa and I discussed new ways of arranging the room since it ends up we have to stay there again next year and we want, no, NEED a couch.
And then packing always has this way of taking longer than you expect it to.
I met up with Morgan when I dropped dear Beaulah off at Kurt's house in Knoxville so that he could cure all of her ailments. He is the good car doctor. Then she and I went to the Helton's house to pick up Ashley and Brandon's baby. It was weird because I haven't been to that house since the breakup, and though it felt completely different, it also felt like I'd never left.
When I got home, it was just me and mom. We whiled away the evening swooning over Mr. Darcy in the new Pride and Prejudice, because this is what we do.
We took a family day in the mountains on Saturday, and there was plenty of snow to play in. Daniel found a small ice cave and he and I wrestled on the ice--I won, of course. And I very much enjoyed spending time with my family, even though it was really cold. As Daniel and Audrey have gotten older, the three of us have gotten closer. I can hug my brother whenever I want and it's not weird. Afterwards, I spent over three hours on the computer setting up a facebook group and blog for the Uganda trip. My. poor. eyes.
Mimi came today! Mimi = grandmother. She's quite an interesting lady. Then I wore a super-cute outfit, which always makes a day go better. All of us ate together in the hospital cafeteria before taking [another] tour of the hospital, because my father is a doctor and this is what we do. Tonight, I was finally reunited with two of my closest homeschool friends, Sarah and Laurie, who I haven't spent time with since their weddings. Back in the day, we called ourselves "The Troubles", with Trouble, Double Trouble (me!), and Triple Trouble. We were the coolest kids ever. It was good to see them, though, especially since Laurie's sister Jenny just passed away a few weeks ago. I've missed them so.
Then I wrote some lean-mean thank you notes for my supporters, and now I'm having hand cramps.
Thoughts:
1) I think my dog and cat have forgotten who I am.
2) I look like a stuffed chicken, and feel like one.
3) I want to ride a bike.
4) Demetri Martin is really funny.
5) I miss my roommate. Kind of.
6) The laundry STILL needs to get done.
7) I am car-less until, like, Wednesday-ish. I hate this.
8) I want to write with sidewalk chalk.
9) I think it's good that Dusty and I are able to talk now normally and be nice to each other...or at least, that I now have the capacity to be nice to him.
10) I am getting SUPER STOKED about Uganda!
11) Mail is really fun to get.
12) I love my mother because she got a new phone just so that she could text me.
Song of the day: Bicycle Race by Queen
